Release Envelope

IT ONLY

From v1.17.2.44, the volume envelope can include a release section which is applied after the instrument hits a note-off (or when the key is released during live playback). To enable the release section, right click a node and select Toggle Release Node:

Your envelope will then be divided into 2 parts around the release node:

When the instrument hits a note-off, the envelope position jumps to the release node. The remainder of the envelope is applied relatively to the volume at the moment of the note-off. In this sense, the release node represents the volume at the moment of release.

The status bar indicates how a given point in the envelope affects the volume.

  • Before the release node, the status bar shows the absolute volume that will be applied:
EnvReleaseStatus1.gif (this example shows that 13 ticks after the start of the instrument playback, the volume will be at 53 (where 64 would be the unchanged volume)
  • After the release node, the status bar shows how the volume will be changed relative to the volume at the moment of release:

Do note that when using an envelope like shown above, the envelope will also reach the release mode envelope if the previous envelope is worn out. To counteract this, place a sustain loop on the last loop point, so that it doesn't put the volume to max before going into the release mode. (See the example song for some proper loops)
